A family-friendly evening
The resort describes the luau as family-friendly, with a children's plate of chicken tenders and macaroni and cheese served alongside the adult buffet — no need to fill a child's plate from the main line if they'd rather have something simpler.
Dressing for a Kāʻanapali evening
Light clothing, sunscreen and a hat suit the daylight portion of the evening; a light sweater covers most summer nights once the sun goes down, and long sleeves or a light jacket are worth packing in winter. Closed-toe shoes are suggested and bare feet aren't permitted on the lawn.
Booking a group across both tiers
General and VIP can be booked separately if a group wants to split budgets, though everyone will be seated in different sections of the lawn rather than together — booking the whole party under the same tier keeps you seated as one group.

The resort sits oceanfront at 2780 Kēkaʻa Drive on Kāʻanapali Beach, within the wider Lahaina area of West Maui — straightforward for anyone already staying in a Kāʻanapali hotel or condo, and a short drive for visitors based further down the coast.
Parking and arrival
Parking is $10 per vehicle, subject to change. Since gate times move with the season and General gates open after VIP, arriving with time to park and find your table before the imu ceremony is worth building into the evening.
